This is surprisingly common and is not necessarily anything to worry about.
The pickguard comes with a thin layer of plastic protecting it from damage in transit between the factory and yourself.
This thin layer will often take some scratches and minor marks on its way to you but can be peeled off to show the clean unmarked pickguard underneath.
